A major fire outbreak destroyed several shops at Eda Plaza, a building materials market in Jabi, Abuja, on Sunday. The blaze started around 3am and caused extensive damage to shops and stored materials. Traders were seen trying to salvage their belongings as the fire spread. A witness told the Nigerian Television Authority that his brother-in-law, who operates shops at the plaza, received a distress call from a colleague, and they arrived to find the fire had already spread significantly.
