Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has expressed hope that the club will retain Cody Gakpo amid reported interest from Manchester City. Gakpo's position at Anfield may be affected by the arrival of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee that could rise to £123 million. In three-and-a-half years at Liverpool, Gakpo has scored 51 goals and helped the club win the 2024/25 Premier League title. City are reportedly set to pay £75 million for the Dutch international.
