N1.83TRN MARITIME REVENUE: Importers, agents kick over revenue targets, poor ports

Importers and licensed customs agents have expressed concerns over the pressure to meet rising revenue targets in the maritime sector, despite the Federal Government's disclosure that agencies under the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy generated N1.83 trillion in 2025. Minister Adegboyega Oyetola attributed the increase to regulatory reforms and digitisation. However, importers told Vanguard that aggressive revenue targets are being transferred to them through cargo stoppages and unofficial payments, while port infrastructure remains inadequate.
