The Tinubu administration has announced plans to reduce transport fares starting October 1 through the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The policy aims to lower fuel expenses for transport operators by expanding CNG conversion and refuelling infrastructure. However, the effectiveness of this measure in reducing passenger fares remains uncertain due to challenges such as CNG availability, conversion kit costs, maintenance, and taxes. The government hopes to mitigate the impact of petrol subsidy removal on transportation costs.
