The Kano State Government has initiated plans to establish a rapid response centre and rehabilitate at least 10,000 drug users within one year. The Chairman of the Kano State Multi-Agency Taskforce on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Muhuyi Rimin-Gado, announced the initiative during a media parley. The approach shifts from arrest and prosecution to a combination of enforcement, detoxification, rehabilitation, and skills acquisition. The taskforce plans to create business clusters for vocational training and economic empowerment of rehabilitated users.
