President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally reported xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks in South Africa to the African Union, warning that such incidents undermine continental solidarity. He requested that the issue be placed on the agenda of the AU's 40th Ordinary Session in January 2027. The message was delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the 21st Extraordinary Session in Luanda, Angola. Tinubu urged African leaders to reaffirm their commitment to the safety and dignity of all African nationals.
