Dangote moves against petrol importers over quality concerns

Vanguard News | 30-08-2026 08:49pm |

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals is considering restricting the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to major oil marketers who continue to import the product, citing concerns over quality, product blending, and brand integrity. Sources familiar with the refinery's position indicate the restriction could take effect as early as this week, pending further consultations. The move follows concerns that some marketers are blending imported petrol with PMS purchased from Dangote Refinery before supplying it to the market. The refinery worries that such practices could obscure the origin and quality of petrol sold to consumers, potentially associating Dangote's products with fuel imported or blended outside its control.
