Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has ordered an immediate halt to the activities of a group operating under the name Hisbah in parts of Jos North Local Government Area, declaring such activities illegal and unauthorized. The directive follows reports that the group allegedly intimidated, harassed, extorted, and imposed unauthorized rules on residents. The governor warned that anyone involved in such conduct would face arrest and prosecution under Nigerian law. He emphasized that Plateau State has one constitution, one legal system, and one legitimate authority, and that no group has the right to assume powers not conferred by law.
