Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticized President Bola Tinubu for embarking on an overseas trip while Nigeria faces multiple crises. Tinubu is currently en route to Europe for a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave, which a presidential aide described as well-deserved. In a statement on social media, Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, faulted the timing of the trip, stating that there is a disturbing vacuum of political leadership. He contrasted the travels of a private citizen with the responsibility of a sitting president, noting the challenges such as high petrol prices that Tinubu is leaving behind.
