Nigeria's health insurance enrolment has risen sharply to over 22 million, according to the National Health Insurance Authority. This represents a 35 per cent year-on-year increase as the government accelerates its efforts. However, the country still faces a significant coverage gap, leaving millions of Nigerians exposed to rising out-of-pocket healthcare costs. The authority reported the enrolment figure as of July 2026.
