About 426,448 Nigerians have fled the country and are currently living as refugees in Niger, Cameroon, and Chad, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Niger hosts the largest number, with 278,077 Nigerian refugees (65.2%), followed by Cameroon with 126,320 (29.6%), and Chad with 22,051 (5.2%). The figures highlight the ongoing humanitarian consequences of conflict and insecurity in parts of Nigeria. Nigeria also accounts for 2.33 million internally displaced persons in the region.
