The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has commenced the reconstruction of the failed Benin-Sapele Expressway, following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The flag-off took place at Amukpe Roundabout in Sapele, Delta State, with NDDC Governing Board Chairman Chiedu Ebie stating that two contractors will work from opposite ends to accelerate completion. Ebie described the expressway as a critical national economic corridor linking the South-South with other parts of the country. He also disclosed that the NDDC has begun steps to terminate and re-award the contract for the Abraka-Obiaruku-Abavo road.
