The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of allegedly hijacking its list of candidates for the 2027 State Houses of Assembly elections by substituting names nominated by the party with what it described as 'strange and unauthorised candidates'. The opposition party, in a statement by its National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, alleged that the development was part of a systematic attempt to undermine the party ahead of the 2027 general election, particularly in Anambra State. The NDC said it was particularly alarmed by the publication of nine names in various Anambra State constituencies which, according to the party, were neither nominated at its primaries nor submitted to INEC as its candidates. It demanded an immediate investigation by INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan.
