On the International Day of the Disappeared, families in Nigeria's North-East continue to grapple with the uncertainty of missing loved ones. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reports over 17,000 registered missing persons in Nigeria, with more than 90% linked to armed conflict and insurgency. Borno State accounts for about 9,000 cases, Adamawa 3,000, and Yobe 2,500, totaling approximately 14,500 missing in the three states. Insurgency remains the primary cause, leaving families trapped between hope and grief.
