Akshay Sapra, a 31-year-old software engineer from the greater Toronto area, lost over 350,000 Canadian dollars (approximately $250,000) investing in SpaceX. He had previously made more than $1.7 million through bets on Advanced Micro Devices and Nvidia, using income from driving for Uber and lines of credit. Sapra is reassessing his trading habits and reflects on the thin line between investing and gambling, but he continues to trade because of the high returns.
