Fishing communities around Lake Albert in Uganda are facing a growing threat from plastic waste and debris, which could endanger fish stocks and livelihoods. Solomon Wamara, chairperson for fishers on Lake Albert, emphasized the need for urgent action to protect the lake. The UN has also warned about the decline of freshwater species due to pollution and environmental degradation.
