The Nigeria Customs Service has seized 204 pump-action rifles concealed among household goods at the Tin Can Island Port. The rifles were discovered in a 20-foot container declared as used household items, which arrived from Turkey aboard the vessel MV Algeciras Express on August 16, 2026. Following credible intelligence, a 100 per cent physical examination revealed the firearms hidden among furniture, refrigerators, solar panels, and detergents. Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Timi Bomodi, confirmed the seizure at a press briefing.
