The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), through its African Center of Statistics, has commenced a five-day workshop for delegates from Botswana, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and Togo. The training aims to equip health ministries and statistical offices with tools to demonstrate that health spending is an investment rather than a cost. This initiative is part of the ECA's broader Transforming Health Financing in Africa program, with these countries as first movers. The workshop focuses on developing health-focused Social Accounting Matrices (SAMs) to link health services, financing, and economic sectors.
