The Prime Minister of Lesotho, Samuel Matekane, along with cabinet ministers and stakeholders, launched a hydropower station in Semonkong to provide reliable electricity. Residents previously relied on solar power, available only from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The Prime Minister noted that a mini-hydropower station built in 1990 failed to meet the community's needs and relied on polluting generators. The government aims to ensure every Mosotho has electricity by 2030.
