Troops of the 12 Brigade, 2 Division, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, local hunters, and members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, have rescued 21 kidnapped victims in Kogi State. The rescue operation took place on Monday, August 31, 2026, in the Egume and Ochaja forest axis, following a mass abduction of road users along the Alloma, Ejule, and Itobe road corridor. The operation was launched based on credible information about the victims' whereabouts, according to Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations.
