The Federal Government has stated that ongoing rail and port projects will reduce road accidents, extend highway lifespan, and create thousands of transport-sector jobs. Funsho Adebiyi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, made this statement at the 19th National Council on Transportation in Abuja. He noted that completing the Ibadan-to-Minna rail line would shift heavy cargo from roads to rail, reducing pressure on highways.
