In preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State, has expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu and all candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. This announcement aims to clarify that he is not backing candidates from other political parties, despite some earlier concerns about his support after certain candidates he favored were not selected during the primaries. During a meeting with the APC Elders Council, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stating that the APC should function as a single, united group. He outlined a plan to mobilize support for all APC candidates across the state’s local governments, wards, and polling units. The governor urged party members to come together to support all APC candidates, highlighting that the success of the party is linked to the development of Ondo State. He praised President Tinubu for his reforms, which he believes have helped increase resources for state projects. Aiyedatiwa also warned against any attempts to create divisions within the party, insisting that there is only one APC in Ondo State. He called on all members, including those who may be trying to form factions, to unite for the common goal of winning the elections. The APC State Chairman and other party elders supported Aiyedatiwa’s message of unity, stressing the importance of the Elders Council in maintaining stability and providing guidance for the party. They urged all members to rally behind the candidates to ensure a successful outcome in the 2027 elections.
