Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called for a coordinated regional security strategy to address the worsening insecurity in the North Central region. Speaking at the 2026 North Central Security Summit in Makurdi, Benue State, he warned that sustained attacks on communities threaten Nigeria's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Mutfwang emphasized the need for states to adopt a united, intelligence-driven approach rather than isolated responses. The summit was organized by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North Central.
