The Katsina government has recently vaccinated 150,346 people to fight a diphtheria outbreak. This vaccination campaign started on August 25 and targeted areas at high risk for the disease. The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, shared that among those vaccinated, 99,036 children aged 5 to 15 received a Tetanus-Diphtheria vaccine, while 51,310 younger children got the Pentavalent vaccine. The campaign aims to vaccinate a total of 114,570 children aged six months to five years and 146,075 people aged five to 15. The outbreak has affected 29 out of 34 local government areas in Katsina, with Funtua having the most cases. To help with the situation, the government has secured an additional 650,000 doses of vaccines and set up three more isolation centers to treat those infected. They are also working with health agencies to monitor the situation and educate the community.
