The Lagos State Government is developing a three-year strategy to address gaps in its primary healthcare system, which is under pressure from population growth, malnutrition, workforce shortages, and disease outbreaks. The plan emerged from a three-day strategic planning workshop organized by the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) with support from the World Bank-backed IMPACT Project. It aims to establish a baseline for primary healthcare services, identify infrastructure and workforce deficiencies, clarify responsibilities among stakeholders, and provide a costed framework for investments. The Lagos State Commissioner for Health spoke during the workshop, emphasizing the need for a resilient healthcare system.
