The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied allegations by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) that its officials removed and replaced party candidates for the 2027 elections. INEC's Chief Press Secretary, Adedayo Oketola, stated that the commission lacks the authority to nominate candidates and that electronic records will reveal the source of disputed names. INEC also published 19 governorship candidates for Bauchi State.
