Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has ordered the immediate suspension and sacking of all village and ward heads in Malam Fatori, the headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area, due to their absence from the community. The governor gave the order during a working visit to the border community on Monday, describing their absence as unacceptable at a time when displaced residents are returning and rebuilding their homes. He emphasized that traditional leaders have a critical role in stabilizing communities emerging from conflict, maintaining communication between government and residents, and strengthening community resilience. He directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Hon. Sugun Mai Mele, to collaborate with the Shehu of Borno to immediately commence the appointment process for new traditional leaders.
