The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has clarified that there is a $300 fee for helicopter services related to air navigation. This fee must be paid to the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). However, they also stated that this fee, called the Terminal Navigational Charge (TNC), does not apply to helicopters that operate offshore to support oil activities. This clarification came after concerns from people in the oil industry about how the $300 fee and other aviation charges would work. The Minister of Aviation created a committee to review these issues. NUPRC's Chief Executive, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, explained that the TNC is only applicable for helicopter operations that do not support oil activities, such as medical emergencies or private flights. The goal of this clarification is to help oil companies understand which charges apply to their helicopter operations and to separate those from other types of helicopter use.
