The Kogi State Government has praised security forces for successfully rescuing 21 people who were kidnapped in Dekina Local Government Area. The rescue operation, which took place on August 31, 2026, involved the Nigerian Army, police, and local security groups working together effectively. The victims included eight men and 13 women, who were taken while traveling on a road. After receiving reliable information, the security teams searched the forests in the area and found all the kidnapped individuals. One of the rescued victims had a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the security forces in their fight against crime. He also recognized the hard work of all the security personnel involved in the operation. The governor assured residents that the government would continue to fight against crime and encouraged people to stay alert and share any useful information with the authorities to help combat kidnapping and other criminal activities.
