The Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) has announced a new plan to improve golf in Nigeria, focusing on developing the sport at the grassroots level and empowering young people. This announcement was made by NGF President, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, during a summit in Abuja that gathered representatives from over 46 golf clubs and other stakeholders. Runsewe emphasized that this summit is a crucial moment for Nigerian golf, aiming to create sustainable growth and better opportunities for youth. The NGF will review various aspects of golf, including administration, competitions, coaching, and infrastructure, to make the sport safer and more organized. Additionally, the NGF is looking to form partnerships with airlines, hotels, and other sectors to enhance tournament logistics and promote sports tourism. They are also preparing to host the All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) in November at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, with support from various dignitaries and organizations. Overall, the NGF aims to build a stronger and more respected golf community in Nigeria.
