In a recent statement, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran will respond positively if the United States returns to its commitments from a temporary agreement made in June. This agreement was meant to help ease tensions between the two countries, which have been involved in conflicts since late July, including attacks on each other’s military sites. Pezeshkian spoke at a summit in Bishkek, emphasizing that Iran is willing to allow safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for global oil shipping, but only if the U.S. honors the deal. He mentioned that war is not beneficial for anyone and that Iran is still open to negotiating a solution to the ongoing issues with the U.S. U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged that there would be a response to the Iranian attacks but clarified that this does not mean a full-scale war is imminent.
