The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) reported that it made a total of 1.38 trillion Naira in revenue during July and August. This included 784.66 billion Naira in July and 595.58 billion Naira in August. During these two months, the NCS also seized smuggled goods worth over 61.3 billion Naira. Notably, they intercepted a large shipment of illegal firearms, including 399 rifles, and also found explosives at the Seme border. In addition to fighting smuggling, the NCS is involved in preventing arms trafficking, drug smuggling, and wildlife trafficking. They rescued two lion cubs and a baby gorilla during their operations. The NCS aims to use technology and work with other agencies to secure Nigeria’s borders while promoting legitimate trade and disrupting illegal activities that threaten the country’s safety and economy.
