Tom Blomfield, a well-known figure in the UK tech scene and co-founder of the fintech company Monzo, recently shared his thoughts about his new job at Anthropic, a company focused on AI safety. After two months there, he described his colleagues as a "hyper-earnest group of meganerds" who are very dedicated to making sure AI benefits humanity. He noted that they have a unique culture, where employees can openly challenge the CEO, which he found refreshing. Blomfield, who took a break from his previous role to join Anthropic's compute team, mentioned that he feels like a beginner again in this new environment, as he is now learning about different aspects of the tech industry, like data centers and project finance. He believes that Anthropic has a strong mission, even if it isn't perfect, and he is excited to be part of a team that is so focused on important issues in AI.
