The Zamfara State Government has stated it will not negotiate with bandits or other criminal elements, but will accept the surrender of those who genuinely renounce violence. Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, made this known in response to a social media post on the government's position on peace and reconciliation. He said the government remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue to support lawful measures to tackle insecurity. Dantawasa clarified that accepting the surrender of criminals who voluntarily abandon banditry should not be confused with negotiating or compromising with them.
