Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to provide clear answers about significant financial issues when he returns from his trip to Europe. Atiku's team highlighted concerns regarding about ₦30 trillion related to the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and roughly ₦34 trillion in import duty waivers. Atiku's spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, emphasized that while the President is away, many Nigerians are struggling financially and need accountability. He urged Tinubu to clarify how the government plans to manage these funds and to explain what benefits Nigerians have received from the removal of fuel subsidies, which the government claims raised ₦15.8 trillion. Shaibu also questioned the timing of the government's recent promises for relief measures, suggesting they might be politically motivated as the 2027 elections approach. He warned against confusing temporary political solutions with real economic recovery.
