A 22-year-old man named Bello Abubakar was arrested in Kebbi State for trying to kill a motorcycle rider and stealing his motorcycle. The police reported that on August 23, 2026, Bello hired the motorcycle from a town and then attacked the rider, Bello Umar, hitting him on the head with a hoe. After the attack, he thought the rider was dead and covered him with leaves before fleeing with the motorcycle. The injured rider was later found with a serious head injury and taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released. The police were able to recover the stolen motorcycle and arrested Bello, who is now cooperating with the investigation. The case is being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and legal action. The police commissioner condemned the attack and emphasized that they will take action against anyone who harms motorcycle riders or other citizens.
