The Ugandan Parliament has expressed condolences to the Tooro Kingdom after the death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. The Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Marksons Oboth, described the king's passing as very sad and emphasized that the entire kingdom and nation are mourning the loss of their leader. Oboth highlighted that King Oyo, who became king at just three years old, made a significant impact during his life, promoting culture, tourism, and environmental conservation. He was known for climbing a peak to raise awareness about climate change and for supporting youth empowerment. During a parliamentary session, members paid tribute to the late king with a moment of silence. King Oyo passed away on August 27, 2026, in the United States while receiving medical treatment. His body will return to Uganda on September 3, 2026, and a nine-day mourning period will follow.
