To help combat the outbreak, the state government is increasing awareness in communities about how diphtheria spreads—mainly through coughing, sneezing, and close contact with infected individuals. They are also reaching out to traditional leaders to educate people on symptoms and prevention methods. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has been informed about the outbreak, and the state is hoping to receive support from them, especially in providing the necessary antitoxin and sample collection containers.
