He announced that it is the right time for him to step down and allow someone else to take over. Starmer plans to focus on international issues like defense, security, trade, and technology. His resignation will lead to a by-election in his London constituency, where a new candidate from the Labour Party will be chosen. Starmer has promised to support whoever becomes the Labour candidate for the seat. Starmer had previously stepped down as the leader of the Labour Party in June, and Andy Burnham has since taken over as the new leader and is now the British Prime Minister.
