A Nigerian man named Ediongseyene Essien has been sentenced to eight years in prison for robbing elderly and disabled people in Liverpool, UK. He used to work as a care worker but was suspended after theft allegations. Essien committed several burglaries, including stealing a bank card from a blind man and breaking into homes of vulnerable individuals he had previously cared for. He was arrested after a series of robberies, where he took cash and belongings from his victims. The court sentenced him to three years for burglary and five years for robbery, which he will serve one after the other. After serving 30% of his sentence, he will be deported back to Nigeria. A restraining order has also been placed to protect his six victims from any further contact. Police officials expressed that Essien's actions were particularly shocking because he targeted people he had once cared for, causing them significant distress.
