A former Nigerian lawmaker, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to reopen a corruption case against Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President and current presidential candidate. Agbonayinma has given the EFCC 14 days to act on this request, or he will take legal action against them. In his petition, Agbonayinma claims that the EFCC investigated Atiku for corruption between 2005 and 2006 but has not prosecuted him despite promising to do so once he was no longer protected by legal immunity. He also mentioned that a U.S. Senate report from 2010 made similar allegations against Atiku. Agbonayinma believes that reopening this case would show the EFCC's commitment to fighting corruption, especially involving influential people. He insists that if the EFCC does not respond within 14 days, he will pursue legal action against them.
