A Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed a legal case involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu regarding Tinubu's eligibility to run in the 2027 Presidential election. Atiku is challenging Tinubu's ability to participate, claiming that he presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Atiku's lawyer mentioned difficulties in personally delivering legal documents to Tinubu. Atiku argues that Tinubu's NYSC discharge certificate has discrepancies in the name, suggesting it does not belong to him. He is asking the court to investigate whether Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) should be disqualified from the election based on this issue. The court is also being asked to look into certain laws that might restrict challenges to a candidate's qualifications. Atiku believes that constitutional provisions should take precedence over these laws. During the court session, there was a disagreement about how to formally deliver the legal documents to Tinubu, leading the judge to postpone the case until September 28 to allow Atiku's team to resolve the issues.
