Reno Omokri, who is Nigeria's Ambassador-designate to Mexico, stated that there is no criminal record against President Bola Tinubu from the FBI. He made this statement during a podcast, emphasizing that having an FBI record does not mean someone has a criminal record. Omokri explained that a recent FBI check requested by Nigerian authorities found no criminal arrests or warrants for Tinubu. He clarified that the records being discussed by political opponents relate to an investigation from 1993, not a new criminal case. Omokri also mentioned that his views on Tinubu changed after he investigated claims about the President's education and found proof that Tinubu attended Chicago State University. Omokri supports Tinubu’s current economic policies, which he believes align with proposals he previously supported while working with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar. He highlighted policies like removing fuel subsidies and reforming the exchange rate, arguing that restoring subsidies would harm Nigeria's economy. He urged Nigerians to assess Tinubu’s government based on facts and results rather than emotions and expressed confidence that Tinubu would win the 2027 presidential election, calling for unity and progress in the country afterward.
