A court in Abuja has delayed a case that questions President Bola Tinubu's eligibility to run in the 2027 presidential election. This case was brought by Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President and presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress. Atiku's lawyers are having trouble delivering important legal documents to Tinubu. They argue that Tinubu should be disqualified from the election because he allegedly submitted a forged certificate to the electoral commission. Atiku claims that the NYSC discharge certificate Tinubu provided has a different name than his actual name, which raises questions about its authenticity. Atiku is also challenging recent laws that limit who can question a candidate's qualifications before an election. He believes that these laws conflict with the Constitution, which should take precedence. During the court session, there was confusion about how to officially serve the documents to Tinubu. The judge decided to postpone the case until September 28 to allow Atiku's team to sort out the delivery of the court papers.
