North-Eastern University in Gombe has decided to increase salaries for all its staff by 40% to 65%, starting immediately. This change was approved by Dr. Sani Jauro, the university's founder, to improve staff well-being and maintain high academic standards. This is the third salary increase in three years. Previously, staff salaries were raised by 35% in October 2023 and another 20% after the university performed well in an accreditation review in October 2024, where all programs received full accreditation with a high score. The university is celebrating the graduation of its first group of students and preparing for its first graduation ceremony, set for late 2026. It has also received full accreditation for its Architecture program, making it the only university in the North-East with this recognition. Dr. Jauro, drawing from his experience as a university lecturer, continues to invest in staff despite increasing university costs. Additionally, he has introduced a 50% scholarship for students in six specific programs that are important for the local job market, especially related to the oil and energy sectors.
