Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has built a new 42-room apartment for patients at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH). This apartment will help patients' families and visitors who travel long distances for medical care. During the opening of the apartment, Zulum explained that it aims to ease the hardships faced by those visiting the hospital. This is part of his efforts to improve healthcare in the area. Previously, he had already provided N100 million to help with the hospital's medical supplies and built 24 three-bedroom apartments for doctors to live closer to patients. Additionally, Zulum has allocated N1 billion to support kidney transplant and maternal health services at the hospital and provided N500 million after a flood disaster in 2024. The chief medical director of UMTH, Professor Ahmed Ahidjo, thanked the governor for his ongoing support.
