The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has asked former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva to come in for questioning about a fraud case involving nearly $14.9 million. This request comes after Sylva accused the EFCC of being used politically by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party he recently left. Sylva announced his resignation from the APC, expressing disappointment with the party's leadership and the government's performance, stating that it has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians. He believes the EFCC has become too involved in politics, acting more like a tool for the APC rather than an independent agency. Despite knowing that his resignation might lead to more scrutiny from the EFCC, Sylva is willing to face any consequences. He has previously been declared wanted by the EFCC for alleged conspiracy and mismanagement of funds and is also facing other serious charges, including treason and money laundering. Sylva denies any wrongdoing, and the case is still ongoing in court. The EFCC is urging him to make himself available for questioning.
