The Oyo State Government in Nigeria welcomed back 70 people who were evacuated from South Africa due to xenophobic attacks against foreigners. These returnees included 42 adults and 28 children who faced difficult situations in South Africa. Segun Adegoke, an official from the state government, greeted the returnees and assured them that their return is not a failure but a new beginning. He emphasized that the government is committed to helping them reintegrate into their communities and will assess their individual needs to provide the necessary support. Adegoke encouraged the returnees to share their experiences openly, as their skills and knowledge gained abroad could benefit their home state. He also advised young Nigerians to avoid dangerous migration routes and seek safer, legal opportunities abroad. The government has ensured that the returnees received basic medical checks and is working to create an environment that helps them become productive members of their communities again. Adegoke reiterated that the government cares about their welfare and future, aiming to support them as they rebuild their lives in Oyo State.
