A former leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, Yekini Nabena, has stated that the recent resignation of Timipre Sylva, a former Minister of Petroleum and Governor of Bayelsa State, will not cause the party to fall apart. Sylva resigned because he believes the party has strayed from its original values. He is also being investigated for allegedly trying to undermine President Bola Tinubu. In response, Nabena assured that the APC remains strong and united in Bayelsa State and is confident they will win future elections, including the 2027 elections. He emphasized that most party members (about 90%) disagree with Sylva's decision and plan to continue working hard for the party's success and to support President Tinubu's re-election. Nabena acknowledged Sylva's contributions to the party but insisted that they will not abandon the APC, as they believe the main issues in the country are about leadership, not just political parties. He expressed gratitude for Sylva's past leadership while affirming their commitment to the APC.
