Farid Ghezali, the Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO), will speak at the Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES) 2027, happening from January 23 to 25 in Tripoli. His involvement is important as Libya is looking to increase its oil and gas production and attract new investments. Currently, Libya's National Oil Corporation reported producing 1.44 million barrels of oil per day as of June 2026, with goals to reach 1.5 million soon and eventually 2 million. To achieve these targets, Libya needs more investment in exploration, infrastructure, and production capabilities. Ghezali's participation will help bring a broader African perspective to the summit, as APPO works to promote cooperation among African oil-producing countries. His presence at the summit is also part of a growing collaboration between APPO and Libya, which hosted a training forum for APPO in 2026. The summit will gather government officials, oil companies, investors, and service providers to discuss opportunities in Libya's oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors. It aims to facilitate discussions on how Libya can turn its resources and production goals into new investments and partnerships.
